Preschool:
The Kids' Club is proud to be part of the Ohio County Universal Preschool Program, which is a free, quality preschool program for all 4 year olds or 3 year olds with special needs. Our preschool program begins on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, and ends in June 2008.
The Universal Preschool Program follows the state approved curriculum —The Creative Curriculum®. The Creative Curriculum® enhances social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. The physical space of The Creative Curriculum® classroom is organized into 10 indoor interest areas:
- Blocks
- Dramatic Play
- Toys and Games
- Art
- Library
- Discovery
- Sand and Water
- Music and Movement
- Cooking
- Computers
The 10 indoor interest areas plus the outdoor space offer multiple opportunities for children to explore, discover, and learn. Interest areas provide a setting for children to learn academic content and apply skills.
The Creative Curriculum® identifies knowledge, skills, and concepts important for preschool children to acquire in each content area: Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, the Arts, and Technology. Most importantly, children are taught these subjects in ways that respect how preschool children develop and learn.
Attendance Policy:
Attendance procedures for the Preschool program will follow the same format as the K-12 attendance policy as follows:
- Excused Absences are considered medical appointments, parental notes (5 per half year) and similar legitimate reasons as defined in the attendance codes (provided in the packet given to you when your child was accepted into this program).
- Unexcused Absences are considered as those not meeting the excused absence reasons listed in the attendance codes.
- Absence - If a child is going to miss school for the day, it is recommended that the parent or guardian call the school to inform the teacher the student will be absent that day. Written verification of the student's absence should be sent upon their return to school.
- Written excuse - If a child is absent, it is the duty of the parent or guardian to produce the excuse on the day of the student's return to school. If no excuses are provided, the absence will be considered unexcused.
- Parent Notes - Parents may write 5 parental notes per half year of school. After 5 parental notes, a parent note is considered an unexcused absence. A medical excuse or doctor's note must be provided if the child is ill.
- 5 Days of Unexcused Absence - If a student misses 5 days of unexcused absences, parental contact will be attempted through written notification sent home with the student, a phone call, or other means of communication to correct the reasons for these absences.
- 10 Days of Unexcused Absence - After 10 unexcused absences, a SAT meeting may take place and the child may be disenrolled.
- Disenrollment - Once a child is disenrolled, re-enrollment is not guaranteed.
